Young smuggler Crusoe crashes the airplane from his dad´s Chinese NGO in the middle of the Amazon. He survives on his own until he meets the beautiful native girl Friday, and together they face wild animals, cannibals, and smugglers who want their cargo back. When everybody gives up on finding him, his American mother comes to Brazil to join her ex-husband in the desperate rescue. But how to find him in the vast green ocean that is the largest forest in the world?

ADAPTATION FROM 1719 TO 2024

The novel Crusoe was released in 1719 and became one of the greatest successes of English language literature, about an isolated castaway on an island. Transported to 2024, for the first time the classic story will be adapted with young Robbie Crusoé stranded in the middle of a vast green ocean, the Amazonian Forest, as isolated as in the original version. It is interesting to point out that even in the original version Brazil is very important for the journey of the main character.

AN IMPORTANT FILM FOR THE AMAZON AND ITS NATIVE PEOPLE AND ENTITIES.

The whole world is increasingly concerned with the preservation of the Amazon Forest. But it is never as straightforward as it is in 2020 when the largest investment funds demonstrate they are against the deforestation in Brazil. The film Crusoe of the Amazon has the potential to captivate the imagination of a large audience around the world as it will be recorded in real locations in the Brazilian forest, with the participation of local groups. This family movie has the mission to entertain, but also to bring awareness to the problems faced by indigenous entities and groups that defend the Amazon for all of us.

PREVIOUS PRODUCTIONS IN THE AMAZON.

In 2017 the producers of Crusoe released the first Brazilian IMAX film, “Amazon Adventure 3D”, shown for long periods in the USA, China, and European countries. The director released another IMAX movie called “Amazon”, nominated for an OSCAR. Both giant screen productions were shot on location in the largest forest of the world. Crusoe of the Amazon has the potential for similar international commercial success, supported by the knowledge of Aventuras Produções in the Amazon region.

THE PLOT

Roberto “ROBBIE” Crusoe is a young chemistry genius who lives with his mother in California and has a conflictual relationship with his father, the Amazonian biologist ARMANDO. Doctor at the age of 19, Robbie uses his knowledge to create special fuels for illegal racing. Being caught and threatened with expulsion from the university, his mother, SYLVIA, decides to send him to Manaus to spend time with his father and help him in his research in the Amazon rainforest.

Robbie is forced by smuggler NARCISO to hide a cargo on the NGO’s airplane. With no way out, Robbie betrays his father, but the plane ends up crashing in the middle of the forest and Robbie finds himself hopelessly lost.

Using his inventive skills and some equipment he manages to save from the accident, Robbie builds for him a home in a cave full of wall paintings, a little paradise in the woods. Haunted by asthma that can suffocate him, and cornered by threats from the forest – animals, hunger, harsh nature – Robbie will also need to survive his past: Narciso does not accept the loss of his cargo and believes that Robbie has deceived him, so he tries to track him down. The same happens with Armando and Sylvia, who never lost hope of finding Robbie and live in a constant search through the forest.

By saving the young Indian Tikuna DJU’E’ENA from death, Robbie finds companionship after a year alone in the forest. Knowledgeable about plants and animals in the Amazon, Dju’e’ena ends up partnering with Robbie for survival, and perhaps more than that.

Amid the jungle, Robbie discovers with Dju’eena not only the Holy Grail of his father’s research, but also a way back to himself. At least until Narciso finds him.

CHARACTERS

• Roberto “Robbie” Crusoé (19) – The protagonist of the film is an intelligent but rebellious young man, who chooses to walk the wrong paths until he literally loses everything.
• Dju’e’ena (18) – The beautiful native Ticuna who is saved by Robbie when she would be sacrificed by the Indians and becomes his great companion and savior.
• Armando Crusoé (45) – Robbie’s father, and Sylvia’s ex-husband, lives in the middle of the Amazon Forest, working to preserve the biodiversity of the largest forest on the planet.
• Sylvia Crusoé (44) – Robbie’s beautiful mother is a teacher at CalTech, who, after divorcing Armando, had to dedicate herself to her career, which caused her to neglect attention to her son.
• Narciso (32) – This trafficker is a powerful bandit with international connections, who forces Robbie to work for him in Brazil to pay the debt he contracted in the USA.
• Jiang (26) – This young and very competent Chinese scientist represents the NGO that sponsors Armando’s research in the Amazon.
• Paulo (30) – A private pilot for the Chinese NGO, efficient, was not to blame for the plane crash, as the cargo was tampered with by traffickers without him knowing it.
• Índio (35) – Native of the Amazon, strong and silent, he works for traffickers and smugglers, as a mercenary, even betraying his own people.
• Bo’a’tekan (40) – Ticuna Guide that helps Robbie’s parents find their lost son in the jungle.
